For Trey Chestnut, Melwood Enterprises has provided more than a job. It has provided the opportunity to grow while receiving the support needed to succeed. 

Before joining Melwood, Chestnut worked for eight years in a school system and later at a hospital. He had been interested in joining Melwood for several years before eventually becoming part of the custodial team at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. 

While he enjoyed his time there, Chestnut hoped to find an opportunity closer to home in Capital Heights, Maryland. Melwood helped make that possible by transferring him to the Washington Navy Yard, allowing him to continue building his career while reducing his commute. 

“Everything was great out there, but I wanted to transfer to D.C. because it’s closer to home,” Chestnut said. 

The move also connected him with new mentors and opportunities for professional growth. 

“When I got here, Antjuane took me under his wing and showed me so much,” Chestnut said. “Now we’re like a family here.” 

Growing up, Chestnut faced challenges related to a neurological disorder that made it difficult to retain information. With support from his parents and a determination to keep improving, he continued developing his skills and confidence. Today, Chestnut is known as a dependable team member who is eager to learn and take on new responsibilities. He says the supportive culture at Melwood Enterprises has played a significant role in his success. 

For Chestnut, Melwood’s willingness to support both his professional goals and personal needs has made all the difference. What began as a job opportunity has become a place where he can continue growing, contributing, and building his future.
